Nail Fact and Fiction
Hey everyone, we hope that you’re all still enjoying your Bank Holiday Weekends, with BBQ’s, hangovers and justing general chilling out!
There has always been a lot of stereotypical thoughts and opinions around nails (real and acrylic), nail art and everything nail-related. Well, today we want to quash some of those urban legends, because well, it’s only fair. And then everyone can go back to enjoying their nails without worry.
Stereotype: Acylic nails never look natural!
Truth: This is completely rubbish. Of course, there are plenty of nails on the market that do look fake when worn, but there are also a lot out there, that are designed to be “buffed” down, so that they blend, so-to-speak, into your nail and hence looking beautifully natural.
You’ll also find that many women with naturally long nails being asked if they are fake nails, so can you really tell the difference? To test you, take a look at the picture above, do you think they are real nails, or false? Answer at the bottom of the blog.
Stereotype: Only long nails can look good with nail art!
Truth: Admittedly, some full-nail Konad designs, and tips look better on long nails, but many of the smaller designs
actually look much cuter on shorter nails. In fact, we’ve come across a few “nail-biters” who still manage to make their short nails look great. The key is to try your best to keep them as neat as possible, and roughly the same length.
The nails pictured here, were designed by blogger Konaddict, and may be short, but we love this look!
Stereotype: False nails can permanently damage your real nails.
Truth: This is partially true. Wearing acrylic nails can weaken your nails and make them quite brittle. However, the effect is not permanent. Giving your nails a breakĀ regularly, and taking care of them will ensure that your nails return to their previous strong and healthy selves.
Urban Legend: Tapping your nails on a desk, computer keyboard etc is damaging and weakens the nails.
Truth: Actually, this one could not be further from the truth. We all now how buffing our nails is good for our circulation, however, tapping at a keyboard or a a desk is actually a lot better for getting the blood circulating. Blood circulation is, of course, the key to strong nails.
Stereotype: Nail Art always looks over-the-top and gaudy, and is only for attention seeking women.
Truth: This is definitely not true. There’s no question that yes, some looks are bright, and in-yer-face, but Konad also offer plenty of small designs that are discreet, cute, subtle and are perfect for anyone looking for pretty nails that don’t scream attention (although no one could begrudge a couple small compliments, we’re sure!)
So, now that that is all cleared up, you can now confidently show off your beautiful nails, whether they are real, acrylic, long, short, loud, subtle or whatever suits your personality.
Enjoy your nails!
Answer: The natural-looking nails, are actually….acrylic! We’re impressed with how natural they look!
